Please see post #57 in which Tammy states:

Once a customer has placed an order and processed their deposit the Base Price is 'Locked In' or exempt from any price increases. However, if a customer chooses a different model or completion date then they are subject to the new pricing applicable to that specific trailer or date.

My concern at the time was simply the base price increase, because I had originally thought that once a trailer was ordered, the base price did not increase.

To be honest, except for the day or two after we received the updated build sheet with the price increase, I didn't really give it much thought. I forgot about it and decided to move on. I was only reminded about it because of this thread.
Are you saying that after you changed to a 19', there was then a base price increase at a later time and it was put on your build sheet? I would say that that was a mistake. We had mistakes made when people made changes to the build sheet and we had them corrected.

Buyers need to look at their build sheets and made certain that everything is there and correct. They do goof up sometimes. They did increase an option on us once without notice (very minor change in price). Just changed it on the build sheet. They still reserve that right on options.

I'm thinking about how I'd feel if I'd had an in depth conversation about buying a trailer -- asked a lot of questions, got a lot of answers, and was quoted a price -- but not told that soon prices would be going up -- and I needed to mull over the information. Then a week later I'm quoted a higher price. I don't think I'd feel good. We're not talking about the price of grapes here. On the other hand, I'm usually annoyed when a sales person, trying to make the sale here and now, warns me that this price will only be good for 24 hours.

All I know is every month my cable/tv/phone bill which is supposed to be $99/month vacillates between $120-130/month due to taxes, fees, and other charges, and it is never the same.

Yes, exactly.

I did call Escape about it. I mentioned their response in earlier posts. If it was a mistake, I would imagine they would have corrected it once we called.

They are saying now that they do not do that. In earlier years, no telling. So I guess you are saying that they would not remove the increase back then (Tammy?) They did not necessarily always have an established policy on many things. They have had to develop their responses over the years as they are a company that still has not been around a long time. So now they have a set policy on this apparently.

We had a big option removed from our build sheet and they added it back when we told them. Obviously just someone's mistake there.

Correct. We wound up paying the $1000 increase.

Well, I will tell you what my guess is for that situation back then: They couldn't keep up with the changing monetary situation and were behind where they wanted to be. Now I think that they are trying to stay ahead of things, having been affected greatly for some time. Their prices were possibly not up to what they wanted on the trailer, the options and the deliveries. And now they are making out well with the various increases.

The only reason that I would want to pay what we would have to pay now for the same trailer with the same options (of course, it would not be the same trailer with the new models) is that it seems the dollar advantage has mostly kept up with their increases. (Or one can look at it the other way around.)

I do agree in principle however that Escape is more than fair to the vast majority of their customers, and we are quite happy with the entire transaction, except for the base price change we experienced.
Fair point, Robert. I admit I didn't read every post carefully (obviously). Once your deposit has been accepted, I'd think that would constitute a "done deal." My bad, my friend.

I don't care to speculate about the reason for the increase, other than what I was told. We still made out quite nicely because of the exchange rate, and even though the increase was puzzling at the time, there's no way it would have stopped us from purchasing an Escape. In my humble opinion, it's still the best trailer for the money.

True enough. But it's like seeing a news clip covering any disaster - you know should look away, but just can't help yourself.

I don't like it either. I've mentioned how disrespectful and distasteful I think it is.

This didn't change my current pricing, and I still would have bought it.
