Look what I picked up look what I picked up at costco.
Pretty quiet, and cheap with a Three year warranty.

Your Firman Generator looks like model W01682. At $350 from Costco it's 1/3 the price of a Honda EU2200i; a reasonable choice for someone testing the waters to see if a generator fits their camping style. Should be powerful enough at 1600 running watts to charge batteries with the onboard WFCO power center and battery charger. May or may not be able to reliably run your AC, depending on which model AC you're getting. Keep us posted reliability experience.

It may run the newer AC, I understand the fan and compressor come on in stages to reduce surge

I'm confused by this, as I've read different things. Are they coming with a "real" soft start device such as this add-on,
https://www.amazon.com/SoftStartRV-N...4689516&sr=8-2,
or do they just come equipped with a hard start capacitor?

If you have the electric hot water option, just make sure it is off if you try to start the air conditioning with a low output generator.

That's a great deal! Have read some excellent reviews on the Firman. If Costco had them in stock when I was ready to buy I would have gotten one. Had to settle for the WEN but no regrets.

I've never had a generator but I'm tempted to buy this one. I don't know how to maintain one-- do you need to run it periodically so that it's engine stays healthy? I would think so.

Some folks leave gas in the tank, (non-ethanol, highly recommended) and add a gas stabilizer, like Sea Foam or others.
Some generators (mine) have a carburetor/tank drain so you can run it dry.
If left with gas in, some folks run it for 1/2 hour per month.
Hard to say which is best. I drain and run things dry. Once a month operation is logical, to know if the unit will run, but folks forget.
Gas with ethanol is very problematic for long term storage.
There's aerosol fogging spray oil that is used prior to storage into the carb to coat things before empty storage.

Just check the oil before each use, and never use ethanol gas in an engine that sees infrequent use. Spend the little extra cash for non-ethanol, prevents gumming up your carburetor and will keep good a LOT longer.

My buddy, who works on small engines for a living, sonic-cleaned the carb on my Honda 1000 and then filled the tank and recommended Aspen gas for long storage. It's expensive, compared to premium from the pump.

Who carries it? The Aspen fuel website is pretty worthless in helping you find it.

Sorry. He got it from a wholesale place for small engine parts. I don't know the name, but it wouldn't help you anyway. I'd check with any small engine repair shop ( lawnmowers, generators and the like ).
It cost about $25 CAD for four litres or a gallon.

And how many 12V amp/hours of electrons per liter per dollar is that?
Feels like expensive snake oil, but I don't know.

I have had good luck over the years with non-ethanol 91 octane in all my small engines.

I found this site:
https://www.aspenfuels.com/outlets/
Says it helps find distributors.

I've know the guy for almost 40 years. He owned a Stihl dealership.
