While good at planning and figuring out trips, it sure was nice to start last year on the Baja as a group, including Ron and Michele leading the way the first week or so. They clued us in to things first hand saving lots of guessing at stuff. Once on the Baja for a while we got a much better idea how it was really laid out with people and geography and we were able to carry on further with no problems.

Plus, it was just great to hang out with a few folks you knew for a while.

Baja is really great. The residents are all great people too. I would like to learn better Spanish before my next trip too, though did survive without it.

Not sure if we will be doing Quartzsite next year, and whether we will be doing Mexico again, and if we do whether it will be the Baja or the main land. We are also wanting to head a bit east in the lower US to visit places we have never been.

Keep us in the loop about Baja after Quartzsite! Missed out on the Escapee trip but putting together a group of Escapes sounds like fun to us. we’ll be at Quartzsite.

Hi... Hey, is the February trip to Baja California still in the works? Any idea of the approximate dates and general idea of the route and destination? We are interested in going, but have been advised to not go without a caravan. If there's room and willingness, we might tag along if plans align.

While there are advantages to a caravan, there is not a problem going without. Last year it was great to get Ron and Michele's input on things to start with definitely helped us with getting oriented. After we all split we had a good grip by then on going on our own. My brother and wife were with us in their 19, but I would now go on my own without a problem.

We'll be going to Baja after Q'site.

If Mex 5 continues to be in good condition and improving condition then we'll take it. We won't be going much further South than Mulege and Coyote Beach.

To clarify the word "caravan". There are organized caravans that go to Baja. They travel in lockstep with every detail done to a schedule and a place. While anyone is welcome to head for Baja at the same time as us we're not a caravan. Once through the border and after a few days in Baja it's quite likely that people then start to see that travelling in Baja isn't a big deal and are comfortable to go places they might want to go. Or places that we've been to and don't want to go again.

We will be having a Baja meeting and info exchange at Q'site.

Yes, another good word to know. In fact, I kept using it even after I left Mexico for quite a while. [emoji16]

Hi Ron - let's look for each other at Q (we have the classic 5.0). I would be interested in more information on Baja and Mexico with our Escape. Sandy and Ian

You won't have to look very far. Greg's already asked to put on an information session. The time will be posted on the notice board by the registration desk.

Look forward to meeting you.

Hey Y’all,

I’m also planning to be at Quartzsite. Baja sounds great. I joined a commercial caravan two years ago, so I know the ropes, but I’ll bet this group will be more fun.

Fantastic news today from the head of transportation in BC. Absolute deadline for both the new highway, from Gonzaga to Chapala and the damaged bridge sections near Puertocetios is Feb. 2020.

I'm really looking forward to driving a smooth Mex. 5, I've paid my dues.

I'm also going to enjoy and savor walking the streets of sleepy little towns like Mulege, where sometimes I'm the only gringo in sight. A new easy to drive route, saving 4 1/2 hours for a significant number of tourists is going to change things, and not for the better. I hate the thought of that area turning into a "Cabo North". So it'll be, enjoy it now, it won't last.
