A thought and a request....
Even though I'm still a newbie, I'm finding new and newer members daily are posting. I'm also showing my Escape unit to potential owners in the surrounding states. I think every member , new and old, should at least list their state under their name while posting on this forum. I think as our members grow with new owners there will be a need to know if there is another member near or far for help. In addition, there is also the chance to organize a rally. On fiberglassrv.com there must be a dozen meets going on at any given time all over the country.
Perhaps knowing that there were 3-4 owners within a couple of states one could decide if we wanted to have an Escape rally. I have attended several fiberglass rallies and they are fun to see other units and what they have done for ideas.
I realize some people like to be private and not participate in meets but on the other hand others do. Listing your home state will at least let others know where you are in the event someone wants to organize a meet. You are under no obligation to attend, but once you do you will have fun.
Right now I'm aware of at least 5 other Escape owners within 3-400 miles of one another that may not be aware of how close we all are maybe to one another.
Anyway I just thought it was a good idea and wanted to pass along these thoughts for discussion purposes.

Re: A thought and a request....
I seem to remember this sort of topic a while ago, it was discused there that the location and model of the " trailer" in the post can also add important perspective to the opinions expressed in the post. ie the folks in texas will have a much different outlook on lots of subjects than us in the north. I find my self when reading posts looking for the loacation of the poster and ofthen think to my self " well i supose it is different there " .

Re: A thought and a request....
I just Googled St. Albert, Alberta, and I bet it really is different there than where I live in the Sierra foothills. Summer has decided to linger, and it's supposed to be +70* here today. Anyway, I do like Jim's idea. I seem to remember some map website where folks could pin their locations, but can't now find it. I think it would be great if interested owners participated in such a program. (I recall Tammy's pin map in her office -- is it still there?) Also, it would further help prospective buyers to visually be able to see where the nearest unit to them is for viewing. Perhaps a link could be set up in the Forum's top bar.

Great idea Bruce. I am a member on a hammock forum that has a Google map that members post their location on ( http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...2ab7d&z=2&om=1). Would be great if something similar could be available on this site.

Re: A thought and a request....
Yeah, this was proposed a few years back, and some did oblige. Others like to operate under the veil of secrecy. I got nothing to hide. I also do like to see first name, location, trailer model and tow. It used to be easy to remember when the site first started, but way too many new members to try to remember now.
It is real easy to put all this info in the side panel with your username. If you don't use your real name in your username, it is easy to add in the signature box.
Bruce, St Albert is where Albertans send all their riffraff, a penal colony of sorts.

Re: A thought and a request....
Hey now, St.Albert is the nice little city just north of Edmonton. We like to call it Gods country but we are a little biased.

Re: A thought and a request....
Okay, I lied, St Albert is a great place. I have a few relatives who lived there. Plus, Jerome Iginla is from there, is he not?

Re: A thought and a request....
Jim,
I think your on target with your thought and request topic. Here in Texas we hope to do a Texas Escape gathering soon. Our in state number is on the rise. For now... most of us tag along to the Casita rallies having owned one and being acquainted with the group. Some year I hope we can convoy up as a group to the factory rally.
The pin map is still on the wall at the factory however ownership locations come and go and I am not sure it's a true representation.
Your right...our views and opinions are perhaps different but we still love you as "family" by ownership of molded fiberglass travel trailers. For most of us, our trailers are set up to keep more heat, noise, and bugs out than cold temps and camping off the grid.
I support your efforts to better organize and rally.
David

Re: A thought and a request....
Yup. Need instructions and need to ask Jeff if he will make a button on the main page that will take you to the map.

Re: A thought and a request....
If you have a Google account, you can sign into Google, go to the map, and click the Edit button. Then, put a marker for your trailer and click Save.
If you don't have a Google account, get one!
If you don't have a Google account and don't want to get one, send me a message and I can put a marker on the map for you.

Re: A thought and a request....
What's to prevent somebody from logging in and moving all the markers around or changing names etc?
