We decided we are going to watch a movie and camp in the camper tonight.

It's nice having Campsite #1 so close to our backdoor for a quick fix.

Most mornings make me want to go camping. We had frost this morning and turned the heat on both for the first time this winter. the sun came out and all is good now.

Nor'easter due tonight. Escape is all winterized and hibernating for the winter. I'll make a fire in the fireplace and we'll watch a movie on our 53" Sony TV—low tech, high tech.

Winter

Winter weather does keep the riff-raff away and out of Wisconsin. I need to get out of winter for a couple of weeks, but it has been, and is, a time for me to tinker and mess about on projects. Summer time gets too busy for that.

Big storm coming to Maine tonight and tomorrow. We’re heading for warm weather next month, 10 weeks on the road. I can hardly wait!

I have to substitute your snow for our rain in Oregon, but like you say, glad to be out camping!

Just pulled into Quartzite AZ for the night. Windy as heck, and about 50 degrees F, and feels like 35 degrees F. We did see one other Escape trailer at Dome Rock, being pulled by a red pickup, but we ended up at Pomblosa Road a few miles away. Will be in Phoenix tomorrow for the rest of the month.

Got a beautiful snowfall here in Calgary. About time. All the white looks real nice. I'll be sticking around the rest of the winter so want to see it enjoyable. Maybe get some skiing in. Camping will be done staying in our cookhouse at our rec land where we have both wood and propane heat. I would never take a genset with my trailer, but it is nice out there to light up the place and use a ceiling fan during these short days.

IMO, “snow” is a four-letter that has one vowel and three consonants and belongs in the same category as other profane words. It was profanity that caused me to move from New Hampshire to the Sun Belt!

March is our heavy snow month, hopefully gets lots to add to the ground moisture.
Camping around here does not start until May, the odd time in
April, but that is only if warm enough and the snow is mostly gone.

Tomorrow's forecast for Calgary is a high of -32CºC (25.6ºUS) with a low of -40ºC (same in US). Might have to pull out the winter wear to go out and have fun.

Reminds me of the days when I was assigned to the Arctic Infantry in Alaska. After getting wrapped up in our winter gear, we would go out for training exercises in sub-zero weather sometimes as low as -50F. Of course we looked like the Michelin or the StayPuff Marshmallow Man on skis (take your pick), but we were warm!

Have to agree with Carl on snow being a 4 letter word. I spent most of my life in a part of upstate NY that gets an average of 150" of snow per winter (although far less than that in the last couple of years) including 2 11' (yes, 11 FOOT) week long snow storms, and I now do my best to avoid the weather. Currently in Arizona where the overnights are still a bit cool, but into the 60's or so in the days and not a trace of snow.

Added on edit - Alright, I Exaggerated. The 1966 storm was only 102", not 11'. Still, it took me 3 days to drive from Utica to Oswego (usually a 4 hour drive) then hole up in an apartment for the next week until a bulldozer cleared a path in the street. A friend showed up on skies - opened the door & the tips of his skies showed over the snow through a 2" slot at the top of the doorway.

Only 84" in 2007, but 141" in Redfield a few miles away. I spent this one driving back & forth to visit my wife in a stroke rehab center 5 miles from my house. Some additional photos at one of my Oswego links.

My preference would be to never see the white stuff again! The thought of camping in the cold and snow does nothing for me. My favorite sport is road/gravel cycling, which is not exactly a winter-friendly activity.

I can't wait until I'm in a position where I can afford to excuse myself from the workforce during the winter season, hitch up the E19, load my road bike, and head to Mexico for 3 months or so.

Being in AZ doesn't save you from the white stuff. In early March last year I was blessed with three inches of snow in Tucson. Tucscon, mind you.
