I think It's great space, being taller I fit in the hiking poles, axe, travel rod, and most important, all our mid height hikers. I even fit in Deb's hiking pack when it goes along. The darn boots take up too much room anywhere else.

In 2018 ETI was looking at eliminating the outside door to the entryway counter. Our option was to either have the small door on the outside or a large door inside. We chose the large door on the inside. That area is Terry's and I have no say on what goes inside.
On the left side is a shoe stack that holds five pair of Terry's shoes. On the right is the open area that holds our collapsible broom, toilet paper, hiking poles, etc. The only time I get to go in there is to get my hiking poles, otherwise I get my hand slapped.

Enjoy,

Perry

Outside hatch

When we ordered our 2017 5.0TA, ETI would not install an interior access door to the storage area forward of the entrance door. They offered to lower the hatch on the outside, which was a standard feature at that time. I thought the compartment would be more useful if we could actually reach the floor through that hatch.

Some time later(Aug/Sep 2018), ETI was offering an interior access door (as I had requested at build time) as an $80 option. Well worth it I thought.

So in September 2018 I took the trailer back to ETI and they installed the door at the option cost, and I installed the shelf that splits the space into an extra inner cabinet, and a smaller outside storage spot.

For us, this change improves the storage area considerably and would be easy to achieve if you can get ETI to put the extra hatch in as you can see in the pictures.

Thanks for your reply and the pics. Looks like your inside/outside access would be the best situation. I likely will never get up to ETI or maybe they are going to discontinue aftermarket work and therefore the outside hatch is not going to happen. I am going to build shelves into my space. Unfortunately there is no frame structure in the cabinet on the outside, side. So I will have to create it. Thanks again.

If you are half way handy, it is not too difficult to cut in and add an after market exterior hatch. Several folks have done that on this forum.
