Escape Pod 2, a few mods
So Escape Pod 2 is our 7th trailer, a 2020 Escape 19, the Escape Pod was a 2007 Escape 17B, a great trailer that replaced a 1977 Trillium 4500 15’.
The trailer was ordered September 2019 with a Jan 2020 build date. We had planned on driving to BC for pickup in May but COVID. We paid up and had it delivered in June.
We only added a few options to keep the price down and the trailer light. As long as I have a comfy mattress, a furnace and AC, we're pretty happy. We often try for sites with services so we didn't need the solar and battery upgrade. Our 2007 17B was toilet only but we are really glad for the wet bath.

Storage
Storage under the sink, somewhere to keep the bottles and such without them falling over. I used some scrap plywood and ripped groves so aluminum partitions were adjustable. The plywood got a couple coats of polyurethane.

Under Bed Storage
We needed to utilize the area under the bed. I built drawers I could remove and carry into the house. I used aluminum for the sides to keep the weight down and maximize width. Simple, they slide in aluminum angles for guides. They are a tad heavy but the 2 of us carry them inside.

The Weber
My neighbor put a Weber portable out to the curb, I couldn’t believe it, I almost left my bike to drag it home.
Using the propane quick disconnect I removed the regulator and hooked up the hose that came with the trailer, works awesome.

Inverter
I grabbed a Pure Sine Wave inverter from Canadian Tire for $99. We only used an inverter in the past to run Christmas lights and charge via the USB, I figured this would be fine for now.

Where to hang my jacket.
I looked at many hooks but the problem was they stuck out to far and I had to be careful where to put the screws. I had some Stainless Steel laying around so I made up some hooks. They stay tight to the wall and are long enough to screw into structure at the edges and corners of walls.
The hook under the counter extension is for a garbage bag, it has to be accessible from inside and outside, we tried under the cabinet but it was inconvenient if prepping outside.

The Kamenstein Paper Towel holder.
EggScape here on the Forum used this paper towel holder by Kamenstein and purchased off of Amazon.

A 12 volt fan for sleeping
We ordered the captains lights specifically to swap one out for a fan. I saw this here on the forum. I ordered the Road Pro 12 volt 2 speed fan.

Where to put my pins and keys when hitching.
When I’m hitching up I needed a place to put my keys or hitch pins. I didn’t like setting them on the storage box as I would scratch it. I had a piece of Stainless laying around so I bent a lip on the front and used double sided tape and stuck it on. A little Lepage Quad around the edges and it’s not going anywhere.

That’s a nice idea. I built a slide out with three milk crates on large ball bearings.

Nice mods! Is the friction of your long drawers enough to keep them from coming forward into the doors on a hard stop? My drawer is on full extension ball-bearing slides and I had to furnish a way of keeping it from coming forward.

On my ball bearing slide out tray, I started out with a 1/2 plywood base and cheap half round bearings. Then I had my local machine shop make some u channels from aluminum with screw holes and a welded stop on the far end. Then I mounted three milk crates on a nice piece of birch plywood that fit in the channels. Finally I had them make a small steel plate with a welded on a female screw receptacle. I use a thump screw through the birch plywood to lock it in place. The whole thing works great

The plywood on the aluminum isn't very slippery. I haven't had the doors come open yet. At the back I was going to put a stop but have my pool noodles stored there so that seems to work fine.

Gotta love the tikis, I carved one as a high school senior with my buddy and we put it on top of the school roof. Oops

Beware of a panic stop, though. A cylindrical threaded stop under the plywood with a thumbscrew through a hole in the plywood works great

Very nice. We discovered that we didn’t need the captain lights in the dinette area and replacing it with the fan interests me. Was the wiring difficult? My only experience with electricity is replacing bad light switches at home. Thanks.
