Probably could slide the right size of heat shrink tubing over the metal of the carabiner and the n shrink with hair dryer. Maybe a couple of layers.

My sun shade came with these to attach through the grommet and then attach to a screw eye...

so would i push the loop end thru the grommit in the sun shade, then over thru the eye hook, (pre existing on the rafter) then somehow bring the open end back to the ball end, and around the ball?
(does that make sense?)
thanks Jim

these are the standard method of securing tarp sides to a frame, for instance, stage awnings... they work best with a grommet every 6" or so.

I would attach a "S" hook to allow ease of removal from the eye hook, the awning will be under tension and these allow quite a lot of "give".....yes run the ball end thru the grommet and it will hold.

First you might try a dab of high viscosity wheel bearing grease where each caribiner engages with the screw eyes. When I did all new hardware on a swing set the caribiners on the swings squeaked like crazy on the new eye bolts. Put some grease on them and haven’t heard anything since.

Hi: Losangeles... The simple solution might be to make more noise inside, than what's being made outside!!! You'll be tired enough to sleep through anything. Alf
