I see no reason not to drive the low side up on a ramp, such as the Andersen levellers... as long as that doesn't raise the trailer so much that front-to-back level is an issue.

I, too, see no need to remove the load from the tow vehicle. Also, shock absorbers don't support any weight; they only resist motion, so while stationary (and not bouncing) they are not doing...
