It's just a personal opinion, but using the Escape forum to promote another brand and discourage the purchase of an Escape is just plain wrong.

I'm liking the return to rationality here. Nobody does everything perfect, but all in all, Escape has been one of the best companies I've ever dealt with.

What about a piece of Butyl tape under the brackets, then just sealing the bracket edge and top with the ProFlex? Seems to me that would provide a very good seal.

Charlie, the cable tie down method is for solar panels mounted in the middle of the roof, and they used to locate the panel there on the 19. On my 19, the solar panel is in the same location as yours...

I don't think there's enough room to mount it that way, at least on my 19. Besides, that would be several feet of high end VHB, which would cost around $50. Perhaps that's why ETI's method was to use...

Our solar panel blew off!!

I think you would have bigger concerns than the panel in that case, since you will have just driven through a tornado. The RP45 is strong stuff.

That sounds like a good idea Charlie. If your mounts are solid there may be no need to do anything else. I checked mine and they're like a rock. I note with interest that the ones that failed are...

This post from Reace better explains the repair process:

My thoughts exactly. If it's drilling a couple holes and bolting things up I can surely do it myself, but we won't know until we get the kits.

Thought so Larry. Thanks for clarifying. For a moment there I thought someone at ETI was drilling through that beautiful shell to mount it.
