If you're considering a 2017 Escape, the fridge issue is moot. They aren't using the 8 series going forward. That's because the new entry door is wide enough to accommodate a Dometic Americana fridge...

Easiest way to create negative pressure in the trailer and suck the cold air out of the fridge is to travel with windows cracked or the MaxxFan open. Close it up and the fridge stays much cooler.
