Re: Generator for Escape

Sometimes when we stop while traveling, I wish we had A/C in the trailer for our dog too, but there would be no way to plug it in. We opt to leave him in the car, and just use the remote start to get...

Re: Generator for Escape

I much prefer being where A/C is not needed at all. At least venturing away from the trailer would be bearable. :D
I know many love the hot, but it just makes me melt. I can only handle temps over...

Re: Generator for Escape

When I finally end up putting an AC unit on my trailer, at this time I plan to go with the Coleman Polar Cub too. It would likely be all I will ever need. Even on the days that have gotten quite hot...

Re: Generator for Escape

Ian, you just need to keep your post outside of the quote tags from quoting me, and you have it nailed.

I truly believe that you get what you pay for with most things, generators are no different....

Re: Generator for Escape

I definitely would not even try to contact Reace or Tammy until mid week next, I bet they are quite busy. They have a second 19 well under way now too.

What size of gen set were you thinking of...

Re: Generator for Escape

Ian, I have not really delved into it with Reace yet, but I did mention it. It would be great if they come up with a solution.

I am still a bit undecided as to what to do. I do mostly boondock,...

Re: Generator for Escape

Mark, i am not certain at all whether the 2000 could run the A/C on the 19, but I know that others have run others with the same BTU rating. I don't remember Doug mentioning installing a soft start...

Re: Generator for Escape

Those 3000's are not too bad for noise, but to have it mounted to the front of the trailer might get bothersome for sure. I think Glen is right, that you would want to move it away, even if just a...

Re: Generator for Escape

Mark, that is a great gen set, but it sure would add a lot of weight to the tongue. A lot would depend on the allowable hitch weight of your tow vehicle. The 3000 weights 3 times what the 2000 does....

Re: Generator for Escape

This coming from someone who undoubtedly has been told to "Go jump in a lake" a few times. ;D

But, your method is my preferred. I just stay outta the trailer during the heat of the day. Hopefully...

Re: Generator for Escape

Another model Coleman with lower draw is the Mach 3 P.S. which draws only 10.5 amps and puts out 13,500 BTU. LINK...

Re: Generator for Escape

They claim it cools as well as a bigger one due to its design, but again could be just sales hype. I doubt I would ever be in a really hot climate very often, if really much at all. I have never had...

Re: Generator for Escape

THIS (https://www.adventurerv.net/coleman-polar-cub-roof-air-conditioner-top-unit-p-1343.html) Coleman Polar Cub only draws 9 amps, this would be easinly handled by a 2k gen set. Coleman is a fairly...

Re: Generator for Escape

Is there a roof mount A/C unit out there that draw less? With adding the extra insulation and thermal windows, I would be more then happy to have less capacity for cooling. Heck, I don't even plan on...

Re: Generator for Escape

Sandra, not sure if you meant this question for me or not, but I don't plan a front hatch, I may do a passenger side on under the dinette, we'll see. I was thinking of mounting a box with the...

Re: Generator for Escape

Doug, it is not a lot bigger then the Honda 2000, but 20 lbs heavier. It is smaller in depth and height then the Yamaha 2400, and about the same weight. It definitely looks worthy of consideration,...

Re: Generator for Escape

Here in Calgary they seem to pretty much follow the MSRP which is listed at $1,599. LINK (https://honda.ca/HPower/Models/ModelOverview?L=E&Type=Generators&Series=Inverter&Model=EU2000iC)
