I've had the old one apart several times for cleaning without success.

Unscrewed the plastic nut that holds faucet on but I didn't want to tug on the faucet too hard and it didn't want to release. If I knew more about how it is put together, I'd go there.

Didn't. I'm wary because the tap I connect to is direct to the mains, before the house pressure valve. I'll give it a go tomorrow if the sun comes out again.
