any water spraying or splashing on the door would dribble on the floor outside, since the door is outside the shower stall, and has intentionally ventilation gaps top and bottom.

prevent hard water spots. as I said, I've never bothered, but I've known people who did this at home each shower, they squeegeed the glass shower stall to keep it all shiny.
