I've got a 1952 MG TD in the garage. Good thing I don't need to worry about terminates since a whole lot of it is wood. Haven't driven it now for more than 40 years.

I've gotta ask why you don't drive it, at least ceremonially, once a year?! Those are genuine head-turners!

The gas tank is off the back and stored in a corner, besides I'd need to buy tires and I have enough trailers and vehicles that move to buy tires for

I've watched a lot of Barrett-Jackson and have come away with the impression that most of the sellers have spent $100,000 or more restoring a vehicle that then sells for $70,000.
The hot sellers cycle thru. One year everybody wants a Dodge Dart and then they don't. Heck, who wanted a Dodge Dart when they were new?
I don't think an MGTD sells well at Barrett-Jackson.

As I remember you mentioned that there are no T____a dealers in your area.
It's funny how different parts of the country feel about their vehicles. In this area T____a dealers can not keep Tundras or Tacomas on the lot. I drive by our local dealer almost everyday and when I see a new one on the lot it is gone within a week.
I drive a Ford as my work truck everyday. Before the Ford I had 3 Silverados and before that a Ram so have had a good taste of the big three trucks.
I LOVE my T____a that I drive as my personal/tow vehicle and Loved the T____a I drove for 11 years prior to buying the new one. My wife also loves her T____a.
I do like my Ford too.
We don't have a F__t dealer in our area.
As you said, to each their own.

I agree that lease returns are a good source of used vehicles. I had one - it had very little on the odometer, and was probably as reliable as any Ford (i.e. two major electrical problems and one pair of prematurely failed suspension parts in 8 years).
Ex-rentals can be good, too... they are typically sold before any service beyond a couple of oil changes is due, so it would hard for them to be neglected. My parents had two or three over a couple of decades, generally without issues. I would wonder about an ex-rental or van.

I wouldn't buy an ex-rental 4X4 truck or SUV, based on my personal experience as a renter.

My father in law had a 1952 MG TD. What a great car to drive. Everyone has to look at it. But he spent all weekend every weekend working on it. And the gas and clutch and brake pedals are way too close together.

My F-350 was a 2 year lease return, and I got a great deal on it. Most dealerships will warranty their lease returns, and if they think they are now worthy of doing so, they send them to auction, where you do have to be cautious. The odometer was only at 122km, and the truck has been running just great. There were a few more hours on it than one would think for that distance, indicating it had idled a bit, but it was not that bad, and idling does not put much war on them.

Our 2014 Nissan Frontier was a corporate lease return after 6 months. They put 18k on it, which must have been all highway. It now has 36k on it and pulled the 17B and now the 19 with no issues. Too early to tell the longevity, but it has been a great deal so far. Especially, because it was approx $6k lower than any other 2014 in town when I bought it.
