How long your water heater anode lasts is dependent on the water in the heater. We have soft water here in BC.
This is my anode after six years. It's still good.
If you have hard water, yours may require replacement much earlier.

Hi: cpaharley2008... I don't know if it's good or bad but I always disconnect the water hoses from each side of the pump. Lets them air dry. Just remember to reconnect or you'll get an "Indoor pool" in the spring. Alf

Yea, I suspect I ran into lots of hard water on my trip to the southwest desert. The first 1/4 of the anode wear was over 2 1/2 years, the rest in 10 months.

Speaking of winterizing - anyone find where their winter cover is stashed in the trailer?
On page 19 of our Dometic Refrigeration Operation Manual 4.13 Winter Operation.
"When temperature falls below 50F (+10C) the winter cover should be fitted. This protects the unit from excessively cold air which could have adverse effects on performance of the unit"
"You should also attach the winter cover if the vehicle is taken out of service for a longer period of time or while it is being cleaned from the outside."
I haven't found it anywhere ... yet.

Began winterizing this afternoon. Here's Low Point drain on my 19. (Built Aug 2013). The big surprise came when I removed the drain plug from the hot water heater. Holy mackerel -- and what you see is one season's crud! ...(!!!)
GBaggs....you're telling me this thing is still good??

You have several more seasons on that anode.
Here's pix of mine at five years and then at six years.
BTW, I took it to my local RV shop at 5 years and was told it was fine. Need a lot more of the wire core exposed and more way more eaten away.

First time I took mine out and saw it down to the wire core I thought it was just about to break apart. That durable wire core supporting the sacrificial metal holds up very well.

We had plenty of water come out of the low-point drain after we thought we had drained everything. I am wondering what no low-point drain means. I suppose if someone pumped anti-freeze through the city water inlet as we do, it would displace any water left.

The use of the rods tells me you have Suburban water heaters with steel tank. Atwood does not have a steel tank so the rod is not needed.

Has anyone else winterized their 21' Escape and noticed the pump feed line holding liquid?

I looked at the one in the FW yesterday, couldn't tell, hose and H2O being clear. Same situation would have existed in my previous trailer as I winterized it the same, never had an issue with it.
Would not have running the pump before blowing it out have cleared any water there?
On 2nd thought, would not running the pump for a couple seconds now clear any water out of the hose in question?

ETI instructions - Winterizing Your Trailer - call for running the pump 20 seconds or so.
