Maybe that's changed since you got yours. When we were working on our build sheet with Sarah, I mentioned I didn't want that cover and she said they have to put it on for safety reasons, but it was easily removed. Heck, it might be required by the mfgr due to some idiot doing something stupid and then suing the mfgr.

Thanks! Am considering changing ours out. We had a hurry-up build-sheet due to an updated production schedule opening and the mistake we made was not getting a larger sample to be sure of our choice and it turned out much more brown and much less red than we thought.

Just called Formica and it is discontinued as it "wasn't a big seller for us". I still like it though! Going to take our time if we actually do it; may consider some other material as well.

Order more than one sample of what you're interested in. I think I was able to request more than one when I was getting samples. If not, I requested it another time or two (or three!). I don't remember now as I was getting samples of two different types before I found out ETI only installs the Formica brand. But yeah, get as much as you can to lay it out into a bigger area.

I know it's too late for you, but others might learn from it.

The lesson here is when you think you've got it order the larger 8" sample. The little ones are almost impossible to really tell.

I simply went down to Home Depot and looked at the full sized sheets they had in their racks. If they have a good selection in stock, this works very well.

It's friday - escape 21'

Ours is completed. Will pick up shortly before the Escape rally in May and attend that event. Anyone else going? Since we are driving from Houston to pick up the trailer, we will probably take a 1 week Alaska cruise around May 13 or so.

Re: the stove cover with hinges. Since my 19 just started production I emailed and asked that they not attach the hinges since I might do something different later (my stove is rotated 90deg).

Sarah said she would notify production so at least for now it does seem possible to not have the hinges attached.

And I just noticed that my production date had shifted up to March 3rd at some point from the original 21st. Need to fix that info in my account.

Can't speak for the 19 but the cover usually is very simple to remove - at last on my last 3 trailers (21 included.) It's part of the stovetop manufacturers package.

Dayshe - love the cheerful colors of the fabric and the formica goes with it very nicely. Enjoy your new trailer!

Laura,
I didn't want to pay for a stove cove that I wouldn't use and didn't want extra unused holes in my formica. Was OK with ETI.

Will be building a HDPE cutting board stove cover and probably some kind of metallic back splash to protect from heat. Want something higher than the standard ETI installation.... maybe stainless. Very much liked Sara's copper there.

As far as I know a stove cover is not required.

Tom
