Bulllards Beach in July
Hi Camping Buddies,
It's that time again.... Time to make camp site reservations for the 2010 Oregon Gathering! The dates are July 15-20 (Thursday – Sunday) at Bullard's Beach State Park. I recommend making reservations now if you are considering coming but are not sure if you can make it yet. You can always cancel your reservations later (or sell your site to someone else) but it will be more difficult to get reservations later. Consider arriving early and staying late, if at all possible.
Early Reservation Directions:
Reservations can be made nine months (to the day) before a camping date and people can reserve a site for up to two weeks. If you want to arrive on Monday, July 12th, you can make your reservations today. If you want to arrive on July 15th then you need to wait until October 15th (this Thursday) to make your reservations. If you try to make your reservations too early, the online park reservations will tell you all the sites are full.
Oregon State Parks have raised their fees this year. There is an $8 reservation fee and it costs $24/night. They have also made some rule changes. You cannot reserve extra nights, then cancel down to the days you want, and still get your money back for the cancelled days. But… you can cancel the complete reservation and still get all your money back minus the $8 registration fees.
Mike and I will be in the same site again this year: A-12. So, go online right now (or call) and reserve a site.
1. Pick Your Campsite:
Go to Gene’s wonderful map and see a photo of each site and whether it has sewer or not. http://www.casitaforum.com/bullards/...P-2010.css.htm
2. Make Campground Reservations:
Go here. Click "Reserve Online"
http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgr...&parkCode=bull
Or call Reserve America 1-800-452-5687 (Monday through Fridays, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, PST)
3. Sign Up for the Gathering:
Go here and complete this form.
http://www.casitaforum.com/BullardsRegistration.html
Remember! Even though you make park reservations, we will not know you are attending the Gathering and you will not be signed up for the Gathering unless you complete and send this form.
I will give you (people who attended the last two years) until Wednesday, October 14 to get your reservations made. Then I will post a general announcement on the fiberglass trailer boards. (Please, do not publicly post anything about making Gathering reservations until then.)
I hope to hear from you this week and see you at the Gathering next July.
Nancy

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Hi All,
We have been moved to site A9. There was a glitch in our reservation and I was reserving the same site as another Fiberglass member so they got site A5 and we 'with the help of Oregon's wonderful camping reservation staff' have been moved to site A9
It should be updated on the Campground map shortly as I have already emailed the powers that be.
Donna, for the past couple of years we have been in site A11 and it doesn't have sewer either. To start with this was something we looked at changing but we always seem to manage quite nicely so....we also like to be close to all of the activites and of course s'mores.....the only time the girls are allowed to eat that much sugar, next to Halloween, Christmas, Easter. LOL
We are so excited as this is the one family holiday that we get each year and is always so much fun. The organizers, Nancy and Donna along with all of the other behind the scene people are make this a MUST DO each year.
Thank you,
Tammy

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
We are going on an Alaskan Cruise with the whole family (my parents and us 5 girls and spouses) (NO kids!!) and we get back from that on the 10...(parents 50th anniversary)
Darn, I would like to go to the rally in Oregon but Doug can't take that many holidays at one time and I am working the 15-18...
Maybe the next year ?

Yeah, I knew you wanted to move a bit... probably got tired of being in the alleyway You'll like site A9, it's surrounded by bushes and will give you more privacy. But not too much privacy... you'll still have plenty of lookey-loos!
See ya in 269 days!

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Well, I'm checking out the sites on ReserveAmerica and I'm having problems in that I don't understand the terms. By vehicle length are they referring to the trailer and tow together? I looked at a couple sites, B23 and B24 and the note on them says limited to trailers 16 feet or less and the Toad is a 17'.
Having never been there I could use some help selecting a suitable site.
Thanx

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Hi baglo,
I've camped at Bullard's Beach several times. A lot of the sites on the inside of the loop are situated at a 90 degree angle to the road and that is why they recommend a trailer 16' or less. We had one of those when we had our 16' Casita and didn't have much problem getting into it (not that I'm any help, according to my husband).
The park reservation system shows the site length in feet of the paved driveway. So with a 19' trailer and 19' truck we look for a site at least 45'. We prefer a site on the outside of the loop, regardless. They're usually roomier and more private. We don't really need sewer for just a few days. There's a nice dump station right there.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Can you see Gene's map? Reace posted the link in the top post. At least you'd get an idea of what a given site looks like.
268 days a counting!

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Sounds like a fun-filled rally! I would love to come, but it is a bit far from Wisconsin.... Must be fun to meet everybody in person! :

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Yup. Been there and Reserve America. Only sites left that looked OK are those on the inside of the loop B ( they say 16' max trailer ) or ones with no separation from neighbors. Does this gathering expand into the C- loop?
I'm still pondering... Being a minister's kid, I had my fill of pot luck dinners and socials as a child, so I'm not sure it's for me.

Re: Bulllards Beach in July
Glenn, by the time the Gathering rolls around, every spot in A, B & C loop will be taken! I'm betting if you can back a 16' trailer into a spot, you could back a 17'. But don't quote me on that!
I've gone to the Gathering twice before but missed the last couple of years. It is highly organized and there are lots of activities. But there's really no pressure to partake if you're not into it. My husband and I like to go off together, so we'd miss a lot of the presentations and stuff. Back when we had the Casita, we loved looking at the other trailers during the Open House. Now that we have our "dream trailer" don't know if it will still be so interesting...
It is a beautiful area though and there are plenty of things to see and do. And it's very cool seeing all that fiberglass lined up everywhere!

Since I have not yet become a "backer upper", I have thought that if worst comes to worst, I could unhook and push it!

I'm thinking there will be lots of help around for you when you pull up, Sandra. I bet you can get a man to hop in and back that thing up for you; you know how they like showing off their skills <ducking>
