It's Easy In Florida
We just returned from the county tax and title office. I was hoping to have a license plate for the new trailer so we wouldn't have to worry about the trip home without one. The pleasant young lady who waited on us had never registered a trailer from Canada so she called for help. The supervisor came over, looked at the paperwork that ETI had sent and reported “no problem.” He said that if we didn't have what we paid in US dollars, (we did), we could simply use the Google exchange rate for the day. He did ask us what they called their money in Canada, so I'm guessing he hadn't had very much experience either.
I held my breath when the young lady asked when we had taken possession of the trailer, and my wife answered “we haven't picked it up yet.” But the lady simply said “would today's date be okay for the paperwork?” Anyway, we left after about fifteen or twenty minutes with license plate, Florida registration, and Florida title in hand - it couldn't have been easier or any more pleasant.
