Robert, I am enjoying your saga. I see you have a pair of Anderson Levellers. Did you have to trim the ends for them to work with your Escape 19?

Didn't trim them Dave, but its definitely a tight fit. I'll probably take an inch off the end sometime in the near future.

Good to know! Thanks Robert. I see on the "trimming guide" on the Andersen website ( 3604 - Camper Leveler) that you can trim up to 4 inches

You have a sharp looking setup there, Robert. I'm enjoying your Past Tents thread looking forward to hear about the rest of your journey. Do you refer to the check list ETI gave you?

Wonderful, absolutely wonderful! Thanks for the report and sharing the pictures. The weather today in Oregon is calling for more rain, sorry.
Safe travels, always.

Congrats on both the 19 and the truck, cool looking combo.
Seems towing is a great equalizer, everyone gets low mpg. The mpg on the 3.5L Eco seemed to top out after I hit about 10k miles, jealous of the non towing mpg you get compared to my 18+.
Like Brian, I always wondered about the folks stating "can't even tell it's there", when I had a small bumper pull I could certainly tell it was there.
If you're going through the mts, one of the items I found most useful on the truck is the tow/haul mode for downhill travel. Seemed to downshift sooner then without, helping to keep the speed down even more. I did have to use the +/- when even that wasn't enough.

Congratulations on getting Past Tents on the road and into some nice camp spots. (And on picking the catchiest of the Escape trailer names I've heard!).
At least with the Ecoboost engine you will have decent mileage when you are NOT towing. We just upgraded to a Tundra with a 5.7L V-8, and will have mediocre mileage ALL the time.
If it's warm, dry weather you're wanting, don't be in a hurry to get back to Texas. We're in Austin for South By Southwest right now and have had two days of intermittent rain showers, sometimes heavy, which has caused cancellation of events on a few of the outdoor stages.
Re San Antonio: we drove through Hill Country and spent a night there and greatly enjoyed the La Fonda restaurant and the McNay Gallery. You live in a beautiful town and area.

I always tow in the tow mode when hooked up, seems to improve mileage as well as handling.

Instead of trimming them, start by driving up on a small (1" or so) set of blocks. Once on top of them, the wheels will have enough room to fit the Anderson levelers in.

It's great when the plans come together. After all the research, you tend to get exactly what you had hoped. We are happy with 99% of our decisions on our trailer! Enjoy your first break-in trip! (We also averaged about 15.5 mpg towing with a GMC Acadia. My wife and I used to challenge each other who could get higher mileage. On the flats we could see around 18!)

Looking very good Robert. One day when you have a tape measure handy I would like to know the height from the ground to the top of the bed rails on the 2WD Ford F150.
Thanks, Mark

Looks good Robert. I was glad to see the BAL X-Chocks worked out also. We have a pair that we used on our last trailer. I was concerned about being able to use them on our upcoming '19' because of the shroud that dips down between the tires. Looks like there's enough room to get the wrench in there.

Can't you just turn them upside down and get the wrench in from the bottom?

Looking at Robert's picture of the chocks, it looks like the centre bolt sticks out farther than the nut on the other end. I think this bolt would probably hit the shroud if you turned them upside down.

In the same picture it appears that the cable tv hookup is right next to the door, less that is for a tv for outside?
