I had never heard of Silver Salmon, so looked it up. I guess it is another name for Coho Salmon, which I know well.

Also sometimes referred to as Blueback as well.

Hey, good guess then! Only reason I guessed that was because I ate once at Anthony's at Point Defiance and there was "silver salmon" on the menu.

Your guide to salmon - in order of desirability.

King Salmon/ Chinook Salmon
Sockeye Salmon/ Red Salmon (Reds) (Kokanee in fresh waters)
Coho Salmon/ Silver Salmon (Silvers)
Pink Salmon/ Humpback Salmon (Humpies)
Chum Salmon/ Keta Salmon/ Dog Salmon (Fit only for dog food, seriously.)

Makes me want to go fishing...
Which I will be doing, on the White River Plateau - Flattops Wilderness next
week. Backpacking & tent camping.

Should have seen the look of scorn on my grandfather's face when he ordered the salmon at the Salmon House on the Hill and they put it in front of him.
"Dog salmon", he growled as he pushed his plate away.
We've never been back since.

Lol...that must have been some time ago. The menu now has only Chinook, Sockeye and Coho.

Alan, where does farm raised fit in your chart? Do you even see farm raised on the west coast?
