You beat me to it, Glenn. I was just about to mention that any issues Steve has/had were a result of buying a used Escape, albeit 5 months old. The op in this thread has a new E21 purchased last month from the factory.

So the prior owner somehow caused him to have multiple problems? This doesn't make sense and to me shows bias.

Hummm. Is it possible the prior owner knew there were issues/problems and choose not to get those fixed, even under warranty and didn't disclose those issues with Steve? And if they did disclose those issues to Steve why would there be any problems if he made the purchase knowing about them...

I don't call either one of those bias. YMMV

Whether the issues were there before or after the sale is unknown, but the original owner did sell an almost new trailer that had issues either before or after the sale. What is that Latin saying, Caveat Emptor- let the buyer beware!. Of course the seller could not as you say cause these problems to happen to Steve, they were there before hand or they happened afterwards, but if the seller knew about them is another question which is for another day. On edit, as Donna says, the price negotiated could have reflected this issues were known.

None of the problems I have encountered are attributable to the previous owner or the trailer being 5 months old
IE
Roof and furnace vent leaking water due to improper caulking / sealing
Electrical issues due to improper terminations
Cracked or missing trim
Broken mounting screws on propane tray
Defective light fixtures
Plumbing clogged with plastic debris
Faulty EMS
Loose paneling
Door Opening/ frame out of square so there are gaps plus the screen door fell off the hinges
120VAC receptacles that don’t work properly
Trailer coupler that doesn’t latch securely
Non operable furnace
Etc Etc Etc
I could list many more issues but I will stop at this point !’

You can blame it on the trailer being 5 months old if you wish but thats no excuse for the poor workmanship , lack of quality control and low quality parts .
Glenn you seem to have a propensity for blaming anyone who reports problems with their Escape on the messenger .
A 5 month old Escape barely used by the previous owner is not an excuse for this many problems

To be fair, it's not reasonable to assume that "any" issues encountered were due to the fact it was a used trailer, since it was less than half a year old when purchased used.

However, it is reasonable to assume that buying used means you'll wind up repairing anything that goes wrong yourself, since the warranty isn't transferrable.

Yes, but that all total speculation and is frankly worthless.

But I believe Escape did honor the original warranty to Steve and he can either get them fixed locally, fix them himself, or return to the factory.

Jim ; the point is not the warranty or if I fix it myself
The point is , this many problems / issues should not occur in trailer that cost almost $48,000 CND . The litany of problems reads like a punch list for a Forest River trailer .

Hey, when I mentioned that I really had nothing but little issues and that the purchase went great I got abuse from a few claiming I was nothing but a fanboy. A fan yes, as I spent a lot of saved money on my purchase and put even more into it after.

Most folks like and appreciate the fact I complain very little, while there are a few who seem to complain a lot. Life is meant to be fun, so I just suck up and deal with the negatives. Leukaemia was not a lot of fun, but I kicked the crap outta that (albeit with help from many friends, family and medical staff).

But Steve, none of the things you're listing happened immediately upon your taking ownership. Why didn't the original owner take care of them? I'm just asking, truly.

I think Steve's point is these issues should not have happened to the original owner, similar to the issues John had with his plumbing and broken cut off switch. That issue is a new one to me. The refer was taken care of by Dometic as well as the propane being refilled by John. Quality control may have been lacking somewhat. But be that as it may, Escape wil fix the problems in both trailers.

I'm not disagreeing. Was the trailer purchased and then not used? Otherwise, how would they not notice some of the things in Steve's list? But, I don't need to keep posting in this thread. I'll just read...

Steve's right. A lemon is a lemon. It happens. Seems though, that Steve's gotten over it.... and even if the scab remains he's still with us, made lemonade, didn't switch to Kool-Aid.

Hey- let's not brand his trailer a lemon. That has a specific legal definition in the auto industry that specifies remedies including buy-back.

Hopefully ETI is reading this and their takeaway is a renewed focus on preventing things they have control over prior to delivery. A heater sail switch that goes south a month later obviously doesn't count, yet many of the items Steve described does- as well as Jim Norman's table edge trim.

Don't know if they read the forum or not, hopefully folks report these issues to Escape and someone pays attention to them.

Back in '56 my dad bought a '56 Plymouth station wagon from his brother in law the car salesman. Now THAT was a real lemon.

Didn’t Plymouth make it right? Or did your family pour money into it and still have bad luck
with the car?

My mistake. It was a '58. Green like this, better paint than this one, though.

Have been reading this thread while camping and enjoying myself thinking it would be interesting to hear both sides of the story, every story has the other side but it’s never heard here. I’m sure people at ETI could tell some stories.

I also understand things don’t always go as planned, I hope in the end everyone enjoys their trailer and camping after all that’s what it’s all about.
