We now have an estimate of completion from the builder. He says first or second week of October at the latest.

It's coming along. Right now they're trenching for electrical service, adding fixtures and wall plates, and finishing up the travertine in the kitchen. Click image for larger version

Although the process has been slow, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the products he's using in the home. A two-stage high SEER AC unit, with a horizontal air handler in the attic instead of the vertical noise maker in a closet. Beautiful granite and tumbled travertine tile work. An AO Smith Commercial grade 55 gallon water heater with a warranty that will outlive us. Top of the line softener with a lifetime warranty. Lots of other quality stuff as well. For what we're getting, this has been a relative bargain.

We did have some bad weather that delayed us for maybe a total of 5 weeks. But, we broke ground in late January, and may finish by early October. So, a total of just under 10 months.

It all looks so beautiful. I’m especially jealous of the RV garage!

It will sure be nice to have the trailer always ready to go. I think it will mean more camping trips.

Some of our friends joke that we bought an RV garage that came with a house.

Congrats! The house is really coming along nicely.

Where is the signup for the house warming/Escape rally?

Well, after what is now officially the wettest September on record in San Antonio history, we've had delay after delay. They're ready to pour the driveways and sidewalks, if it ever dries out enough to do so.

Lots of asphalt drives here as well. They're far less expensive. If I had another 50 or 60 feet to run, I'd probably have tabbed it with asphalt to the street.

I should have bought stock....lol. 330 cubic yards for the slabs, and who knows how much for the drives, walks and steps.

I haven't seen mesh used in forever. Maybe elsewhere though. Drives and walks we use 10M bar at 16-20" OC.

Mesh is very common here. Rebar would probably be overkill in areas like ours where the ground never freezes.

yeah, my kid had to reinforce the sidewalk leading to a 'RV pad' he put in his back yard to satisfy city code, this required steel mesh and higher pressure cement thicker than the regular sidewalk. all this to get neighbors off his back who were complaining about his 5 ton 6x6 army truck burning man rig. hah hah.

This goes without saying make sure they pull up on the mesh before they do the smooth out so it’s not just sitting on the bottom.
