Robert. I really like your new home and property. You are not going to ever want to leave it to use your Escape! Looks like your RV garage will do the job nicely. What was your rationale for picking that particular width for the RV garage rather than, say, going a bit wider to have more room to do work inside the building with the trailer in it?

I suppose the rationale was that something had to give regarding cost. We had huge expenses for slab work and unforeseen expenses due to the property topography, and customizations of the home interior. At 12 feet wall to wall though, I can still use a ladder on either side and get to the trailer roof if I have to.

Finally is right Greg. Whenever a builder says "one month" just translate that to two.

Very nice! Just curious as to your approximate location? When we visited San Antonio in March we drove through the hill country, stopping for BBQ at Cooper's in Llano and a quick visit to Fredricksburg. We would like to do a return visit to explore your area in more detail someday!

The Hill Country covers a pretty large area - as big as some states. Llano is in the northern part, Fredericksburg is in the heart of it, and our area around Canyon Lake is in the southeastern part. There's a map below. Here's a good read about the Hill Country. The definition/boundaries change depending on who you ask, since most Texans in this area want to be considered part of it. Not to disappoint my former residence of San Antonio, but it is NOT part of the Hill Country. Gotta get out of town for that.

Looks like we missed a very large portion of the Hill Country (however defined). Beautiful country so for sure will need to make a return trip!

Didn't like the stair design so I built my own with a landing a little over halfway down. The hardest part was digging through the rock deep enough for the footings. Started landscaping as well. I may eventually build a 2nd deck along the tall concrete wall about halfway down as well. Easy enough to tie in the stairs if I do.

Got rid of all the brush and scrub cedar under the large cluster of oaks in the back, and will build a grotto of some sort with stone benches and a firepit in the middle - I think. Haven't really decided.Click image for larger version
