Ah, a bike for those fully-paved campgrounds with perfect paving, where tiny wheels work.

yup .... that's about right - paved area - scooter also .
We had matching Raleigh folding bikes ...nice - did fold small - not too light but still easily manageable ( 3 speed ) they were good for unpaved areas - but no obstacles....

Lindy has a Brompton which she loves. Only 16" wheels, but people have gone on long tours with them. I have a Tern Eclipse which has 24" wheels, a generator in the front hub, and a nice rack. It is not as compact as the Brompton, but it goes over rough roads better.

When friends ask me about buying a bike, I tell them to think about the bike shop they want to have a relationship with, and buy the bike from that shop. If the shop will do a good job of building the bike, work with you to make sure the bike fits you, etc. then you will probably be happy with the bike and hopefully ride it more.

I urge folks to stay away from bikes purchased at Target or Walmart. One of the things I do is volunteer at an organization that fixes up donated bikes and gives them away at Christmas time. (free bikes 4 kids). The department store bikes are really difficult to get adjusted, and often have very low quality bearings etc. And they are usually assembled by people who a very low aptitude for bicycle mechanics.

I decided to buy bikes for me and my wife recently. Rather than buy new cheap bikes I found better quality, but used, bikes on Craigslist. I got a very nice Cannondale Adventure 3 hybrid for her and a Giant Cypress for me. I am very happy with the bikes and the prices, just a bit over a hundred each.

Great idea- plus with those bikes there is less likelihood of someone ripping you off. Bikes are essential to us for cruising around. getting exercise and for recon down that road that looks great for a possible boondock.

Probably a matter of time before we start talking about drones
