A 2x4 that is actually 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 ..... if we ever call it a 4X9 we'll think we're getting so much for our money ....especially if it is a 2x4x8 ....... becoming 4x9x244 .....

2 ) What is the metric equivalent for Pi ?

To converse down in our country when you were young you had to know how far 80 rods was, how much a bushel of corn weighed, how many pecks in a bushel and finally how many acres in a section. Things change.

That's still relevant here to rural people, as land is commonly still described in acres (rather than hectares), and the land survey system laid out much of western Canada in squares one mile on a side: sections, of 640 acres. I think it's still common for people refer to sections and quarter-sections of farm land. My grandparents homesteaded in Alberta, and expanded to two quarter-sections (before the soil all blew away in the 1930's ).
