Alf:

Did you put in the surround yourself? If so is the process documented anywhere? Maybe a new thread or PM with details? It looks very well done in the pictures.

I believe the tarnish is called "patina", highly desirable and sought after.

Thanks.
Check this one out too. Lots of folks have made a cover for the 2 burner, but I like Myron's because its a cover, a cutting board and a serving tray all in one. AND, its cheap and easy.

A few modifications to my 19

You might want to contact ETI.. I have the two burner stove in stainless and the matching stainless cover (smaller then the 3 burner version) it was optional but sourced and installed by ETI on my April 2012 delivery 19 footer.

I enjoy seeing the names others come up with.

We've travelled extensively in our 1955 Shasta and, as a rule, cook inside. No problem with smells lingering. The cuisine that comes from that kitchen, due to my wife's expertise, is excellent. We've acquired a small propane grill, with one burner, for use when it's too hot inside to cook. It's a new addition so don't yet know how much it will be used. But for us, the inside kitchen is the way to go.

In our 19' we're a little worried about the wall behind the stove/sink. We worry the padded "vinyl" will be hard to clean and prone to damage. Has anyone had problems in this regard? I saw one 19' with an added sheet of laminate covering this wall area. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks.

You might want to look here. Had no trouble searching for stainless cover for 2 burner RV stove:

Drop-In Cooktop Cover for Suburban 2 Burner

You can get it in stainless. It just screws to the counter top. We got one when we ordered to protect the vinyl and the wall.

I shall answer for Alf, since his old 5.0 is now ours and we like the stainless. Reace put it in only this one and Alf thinks one other, but too difficult to do, so he won't do it anymore.

Let me not drag the thread further from its intention. I'll respond and then go back to cooking or not. Thank you.

rbryan4: I did see Myron's cover as it went by. I like it a lot and plan to make one. Until you mentioned it I didn't think of it standing up to act as a splash guard though. Thanks.

Tim and Julie: My search was quick, but Google let me down again. Thanks for the link.

Adrian (& Alf): I was hoping it was done after manufacture and some tips would follow. Even if it was a current option, asking ETI to custom fit one to an older trailer would be beyond reasonable.

Thank you all for your help.

Back to cooking. I may have to eventually switch the cook top out for a range. I'm addicted to the pizza and other great stuff that comes out of my wife's oven in our Shasta. Yep, we cook inside probably 90% of the time. Only go outside if its real hot weather.

I had the stove cover added a year or two after I bought the trailer.

Hi: currinh... Yes we cook in our kitchen. That's what it's for eh? Some days it was only a one pot dinner. Boil a few mini potatoes, add a hand full of mini carrots, and 2 smoked Brats. to heat.
Reace did a great job on the surround and anyone with trim skills could do as much. His aversion to working with S/S was if you ding or crimp it... it's ruined!!! Just more of that "Patina" look, you say. It was all applied on top of the original Escape wall covering. Alf
