Yea some of those Illinois roads can be rough, Iowa too. I try to keep my eyes on the road so often when I encounter oncoming Interstate traffic I miss some details. And of course with all the trailers running 80 coming out of Elkhart. It’s one after another anyway. However yesterday in some slow traffic in east Chicago I did something I’ve never done before. I stay in my lane and hence you get passed and you pass the same truck or car several times . Yesterday I passed a Maserati about 4 or 5 times. I can’t tell you the last time I saw one let alone passed one, which is never, that I know of.
Hope you have a good time on your trip.
We are Looking to getting out again soon. Check out Rock Creek park south of Comanche iowa sometime. They have a nice eco tourism center and a free ride on a big pontoon boat some nights and mornings. Camping is pretty good and restrooms were nice. $20 a night, rarely if ever fills up except holiday weekends, No entry fee. Free Dump Station. Nice camp staff. Tons of avian fauna.
Had the Iowa Woodpecker slam while there a couple weeks ago.
Pileated, Downy, Hairy, Red headed, Red bellied, Yellow bellied sapsucker, Flicker First time for me in one two hour period. Is this Iowa, No it’s Woodpecker Heaven. Clinton county Iowa parks.

Berkshires, MA
Just met a nice couple from Braintree. MA and their new (fall 2021) 19 here at Mt. Greylock Campsite Park, just north of Pittsfield, MA. planning to retire in Maine - just like us. Taking in a few concerts at Tanglewood prior to heading out to Glimmerglass SP for the Glimmerglass Opera Festival.

Took a short drive on $3.32.9 gasoline this evening. Thought we should drive a couple loops at the Corps of Engineers campground on Coralville lake between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Our favorite CG on the Res is Sugar Bottom. Named for the many Sugar Maple trees in the adjacent forested areas of the Iowa River hardwood forest. We have family nearby so after we left their home we crossed the Mehaffey bridge and turned in to the entry road. I said “Just once this summer I’d like to see a fiberglass camper in here”. We drove a couple loops and we were ready to leave when Rita spotted a 5.0TA. Nobody home. Texas plates. Left a note on the door. Driving out, a Texas F150 came in. Gotta be them. And it was the very nice couple of JStelly and his bride. Had a short conversation and headed out to continue to count deer in the crepuscular hour (15). So nice to see people having fun with their trailer, especially in our neck of the woods.

We just returned from dinner in Solon when Dave and Rita met us at our campsite! Thanks for the great conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting both of you.
And yes! We think Sugar Bottom CG is a great location for a rally. [emoji4]

Kooskia
When I worked on the Selway out of Fenn ranger station in the summers of 69
And 70 We drove that’s road many times. We have come back to Iowa that way when returning from Osoyoos three times also. We stay on the Selway River overnight or two nights and head up the Lochsa towards Lolo Pass in the morning. The sun coming off the rapids is one of the prettiest sights I’ve ever seen. It’s fascinated me for over 50 years now.
Selway falls never disappoints either.

That's what happens when you are in the Chiliwack area and make a stop at Escape Industries.... he he

Hey John- was the trailer nekked? Cruised through that CG last year; very busy spot. We usually stay at Allen(aka Alien) Springs - one of several campgrounds along the Metolius River near Camp Sherman.

Saw another 21’ in Forks WA today. You honked as you went by (we were pulled over, trying to figure out the location of the nearest dump station). Your trailer’s the newer variety…

Howdy neighbor. Near the Illinois river in central Illinois here. Just got ours in June. You are so close I hope you can make the Mississippi River rally in September.
