Manually moving a 17B around(not very far).

Does anyone "push" their 17B around? I mean with the hitch wheel attached and assuming a flat level surface. It would be to improve the view or ensure a little more privacy. I am quit strong, athletic 195 lb.

When we owned our 17' we used a trailer dolly. You can purchase them online or from places like Princess Auto. Around $75 cdn. Well worth it. It was so easy to move the trailer to our desired location.

I leave my hitch wheel at home.
It's only useful on totally flat concrete surface.

Mine is in the back of the truck in a tool box. I always thought that if I ever got into a real jam, I could unhitch and (with a lot of help) move the trailer into a position to get out of the jam. Hasn't ever happened. And this from a person who doesn't give a hoot about covering every possible disaster and or potential scenario.

Edited: As to the OP's question, why not if you can do it? Go for it. Just be sure the trailer can't get away from you.

I used my wheel with my 19 maybe ten times. With two people the trailer pushes easily on a flat hard surface, asphalt, concrete or well packed and smooth gravel. I did move it once on very loose gravel, but it took four of us to do that.

We mostly did this for better positioning, often when we have two RVs and would like them to face each other. Usually I can do this by reversing with the tow vehicle, but not always.

You alone could move your 1 under good conditions, but better yet with the help of someone else. The single axle makes the turning easier than tandem does.

Grunt

We have a 19. In our storage building we have a dead flat, smooth concrete floor. With the jack wheel installed I can roll the trailer forward and back but I cannot twist it around to move it side to side. The tandem wheels just have a little too much bite for this old man. I am fully confident that I could push a 17 around to reposition it in this same situation but a trailer dolly (manual) would make it a lot easier. I cannot say I am at all athletic but a lifetime of work outside has kept me alive and vertical. 69 and kickin
