Preventing trailer theft

Who says not to use a hitch lock?

As I mentioned before, these things are deterrents. Any deterrent is better than no deterrent at all. Just don't expect iron clad security if a determined thief wants your trailer. In that case, a wheel lock/boot is better.

In over a 25 year span with three different RVs, the only security I have used is trailer insurance.

It could be I am just too trusting, but I can't be bothered worrying too much.

I would bet my 5.0 with the Anderson adapter would make it at least a bit more difficult to steal.

And if you'd have read the link I listed, you'd see the option to allow users to ignore moderators.

It's not a personal issue - it's a technical one.

One thing not discussed so far is how much damage can be done to the trailer by someone trying to defeat a device. Sometimes it is better to leave the door open than to have the door destroyed.

Purchased the California Immobilizer a couple of weeks ago.Trailer is parked in front of our house and sometime some guy unfamiliar to the neighbourhood would stop and ask my wife about the trailer. She was getting nervous that it might get stolen so every evening I ended up parking a car in front of it until I could get that Immobilizer.Had to jack up the rear of the trailer to install it because of the slope. If I hear a saw going in the night I will certainly wake up.We have become a little paranoid around here after a recent burglary, so are looking into installing cameras.36 years in same location but now things are starting to happen around here.
Take care and stay alert.
Allan.
