Last year I went to North Shore RV with my anode to get a replacement and was told I didn't need one. I expect it to last several more years, but I might replace it early anyway, because they are cheap.
I guess if you live and camp where hard water is what you get, you could carry a spare, but I can't imagine needing it.
Wonder if somebody sells a gauge that would monitor erosion of the anode?

I never replaced the anode on our old trailer (8 years), only the threaded end was eaten away. May have something to do with how much you use the hot water, we only kick it on when needed, kind of a manual on demand.
