Will our current generator power the 19 a/c?
Good morning!
We are considering ordering the 19 Escape, and are wondering if our Honda EI2000 would be able to power the a/c? Of course, we wouldn't be using any other appliances at the same time.
Thanks for any info on this.

If you do a search for "Honda 2000i" you will find a bunch of threads about this. You'll need your favorite beverage in your favorite drinking vessel, then:
Enjoy the read!

If you do the reading you'll find mixed results, works for some, not for others. Best bet is to add an Easystart kit to the A/C. Do a search for Easystart on the forum.

I believe the consensus here is you need a 2500 watt generator.

Yes... You'll probably need to add the Easy Start to the air conditioner so that your Honda EU2000i will power it. At least here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, we needed one.
Here's a great video on how to install the Easy Start. It's not all that difficult, outside of the fear of having to cut some wires to make the installation in our brand new air conditioning unit!

My Honda 2000i runs my 19' A/C just fine. I recently discovered that if I turn the converter off, I can often run it on eco mode.

I think one reason so many people have such different experiences using a 50 lb. 2000-2200 watt inverter generator to run their air conditioning is that they are operating at different altitudes. A generator loses about 3% of its power for every 1000 ft gain in elevation.

True, but we have found that we seldom need A/C in higher altitudes.
