Interesting that a build sheet signed 11/25 got a Dickinson. Here’s what just came in from Melissa, “I have asked about the Dickinson Cooktop. What I have been told from the production is we are only installing cooktops that we supply.”

Glenn based on the date of manufacture isn’t your trailer a 2008? Your profile says 2009.

I wanted to change to a longer one as I'm installing a convection microwave, and I wanted to move the run away from the top of it. So, I contacted Escape to find out what was used to order a longer replacement.
Looks like a quality product. Thanks for sharing.

In my opinion it is just another reason not to get spray foam. I personally like to be able to access plumbing, gas lines, and tank sensors without digging through foam. I think some members have used sheets of foam to insulate the bottoms of their trailer

I picked it up in July 2008, however, the registration and insurance say it is a 2009.
Matters not to me, I think, I hope.

I realize the foam complicates things, but I’ve had a Bigfoot and winter camped. I also realize the Escape is not a 4 season trailer, but I’m sure I’ll camp at least 3 1/2 seasons.

While laying out my cabinet rebuild I noted the gas line was in the middle of the oven lower drawer. I removed the foam. Also the line was crimped during original install. I will be making a joint under the trailer and running a new line to the oven. I will most likely go to the existing tee on the drivers side of the camper and run to the stove.

The copper tubing in my trailer looks like it was bent by hand - not with a tubing bender. A tubing bender maintains the diameter of the tubing - bending by hand, tends to flatten the tubing or, worst case, crimp it. Probably where the crimp in the tubing came from.

I wanted just the slide in portion (range top) of the stove/oven combo Escape provides. I would then put the convection/microwave below it. Dometic makes two versions of this stove; one includes the oven and is model R31, the other is just the slide-in range-top (stove-top) model S31. The model R is for range and S is for slide-in. The gas is in the same location for each. Dometic just bolts the two together with a side flange for the complete range.

Escape told me they would run the gas to that location but I had to do the construction. Actually, the gas is the same location for both Dometic options. I would have done that if I had time but I don't. I ordered the oven model and since I am getting the 21NE, I was then without a microwave option. I decided to go with the smaller 5.5cf refrigerator with the 12/24v compressor. There is then room above it for a microwave cabinet which is what I understand will be included in my build.

We eliminated the cooktop entirely and are very happy we did so. My wife wanted the extra countertop space and we rarely use a cooktop. We bought a coleman cooktop and had the optional exterior propane line installed on the Escape. So we just use the coleman cooktop outside on those rare occasions when we need a cooktop. Works great for us.

Remove all the screws from the backsplash and under the counter top. Disconnect sink supply and waste lines. Lift carefully. Good time to add another in line receptacle, sink bowl and faucet while the top is off if needed.

Interesting on the compressor option. Wondering if the smaller compressor is also an option for the 21C?

Plumbing aside, what were your considerations regarding the “stock” cooktop options vs. the Dickenson?

Bob: It is best to quote the original post so that users know who you are asking. Especially important once threads get long.

So I tried a Suburban or Dometic 3 burner slide in flush mount cooktop since they are exactly the same as as the Suburban flush top stove option - minus the oven. The response I got was the production crew does not have jig for that and won’t do it. It appears Escape is moving away from any custom cooktop or stove options. I’m now trying to decide if I want the stock cooktop and then rip it out for another choice. My concern is if the propane line would reach a different choice. I want spray foam which would make a new propane line difficult. I could do the oven, but we don’t use the oven, and are already losing storage space to the 6cu ft fridge.

Any suggestions from past experience on how to proceed with the Escape 19 and cooktop options? My first choice would be the Suburban or Dometic flush mount slide in cooktop - not a drop in. The Dickinson would be a fall back, but not really what we like best.
Wondering what your considerations were regarding the Escape offerings for cooktops?

And, when you quote, you can edit to just the pertinent part, as long as you keep the square brackets on each end.

I love induction- have one at home now for 1 0 years. We dry camp though and not going to carry an annoyanator!

Am almost to the point of ordering another Atwood DV-20 as a spare while there is still a few left out there. They are a simple champ.
