Ross and I were going back and forth via email on two options for pedestals. This stemmed from my concern with the Dicor pedestal being able to work as a bed.

To recap what I had reported before, though I do think I may have had my heights wrong. My issue with the Dicor pedestal, and one I did not discover until after I received it, is that it is not infinitely adjustable, instead has 3 detents. Otherwise, it is a very well made, good looking pedestal, and I really like the lever action. The detents (including the 1/4" for the Dicor 4-way slide) taken to what would be the underside of the table top, are 14 3/4", 20 7/8", and 28 1/8".

If you were to raise the floor in the dinette so the seats were at a comfortable standard 18" height, the underside of the 4" cushions would be 14". This 14" height needs to be where the top of the table sits to make it a bed. This will not work with the Dicor pedestal, which is too high already, let alone adding the thickness of the table top.

Otherwise the Dicor is fine at the other heights, with the table top being close to the standard 30".

With the Springfield at 12 3/4" height, plus 1/4" for the Dicor 4-way slide, leaves you a full 1" of thickness for the table top. PLUS, you have the capability of adjusting the pedestal height to whatever you need, unlike the Dicor which would have to be at a precise height to match the lower detent.

Not sure just how I will proceed myself, but I imagine I will wait until I get my trailer before making any definitive plans. I do know though that the Dicor 4-way slide looks like it will be a great addition to any pedestal.

Oh, and Ross, thanks a lot for showing everyone my cluttered storage room, filled with all things trailering, just waiting to outfit the trailer when I get it.

How does the pedestal attach to the slide? Threaded holes in the top of the pedestal?

Yes. Easy to replicate with another pedestal.

I would like to get the dicor version. I assume that bringing it down to bed height will work in the standard 2014 21?

The biggest problem with the Dicor, is that it only stops at a set height of 14 1/2" alone, 14 3/4" with the 4-way slide, so if you table top is 3/4" the top of it would be 15 1/2". This height would have to match the height of the bench without cushions. I understand this height to be in the range of 17 1/2".

You could pull the pedestal apart, and drill new detents, but that would be a real pain, plus you could not make it stop any lower, just as an additional height above minimum.

If you want to convert your table to a bed it may not work with the lower detent fixed at 14 3/4 as the rails on the benches with stock floor are at around 18". It likely would want to go up to the next stop which at 20 7/8" would be too high.
