For what it's worth, the valences aren't fancy: made of wood and fastened to the overhead cabinets with long wood screws. If you wanted to add them, you'd probably want to reinforce the cabinets where the wood screws come in; but the valences themselves aren't heavy.

Thanks, Jill. I always thought this dragonfly lace was funny (still do). Being white, they seem to accentuate the light of the window rather than darkening the room. Being lace, of course, they don't really obscure the view.
