Wonder if #31 would take care of the condensation issue some have.

I was thinking about the bubble wrap around the windows and covering the metal frames.

We've only been out in single digits minus (c) overnights , so have really only had a bit of condensation on the window frames . But I have wondered why do they can't make the frames out of vinyl ?

Interesting link in the opening post. But watch the little clip at the bottom of the thread called "let's go camping".

# 19 is a bit odd for me , not because it wouldn't work - but because it seems to me that cleaning egg out of a bowl would be easier than a bottle and top .....

QUOTE: Make your own black tank cleaner: Mix together a cup of Borax detergent and 1/2 cup of Calgon Water Softener. UNQUOTE
I tried this once. Cost a fortune for the Calgon or the Borax ( I forget which) and I had two huge, heavy boxes to cart around. I can't say if it actually worked or not. I went back to a commercial product designed for the purpose.

I would guess for strength and durability, though not certain.

Hi: gbaglo... We use this method for the black and grey tanks... Nice slim box of Calgon water softener and a bottle of Dish washer detergent w/bleach. 1/2 cup each and 1/2 gal. water down the drain and toilet after dumping!!! Alf

I agree; residential vinyl windows are quite flexible, which isn't so bad when isntalled into the rigid framing of a house but seems like a bad idea in a moving (and flexing) vehicle. But also, aluminum extrusions can be readily formed into radius-corner frames of any desired size with only one joint, while vinyl extrusions are suitable only for square-cornered frames with a bonded joint at each corner. The alternative is to mould the whole frame in one piece, which would be expensive to tool up in a range of sizes.
A compromise - as well-established in building construction - would be outer and inner frames sections with a "thermal break" of relatively non-conductive material between them. I have not heard of anyone building RV windows this way; I suspect that not enough RV buyers would be willing to pay the premium cost which the RV manufacturer would need to pass on.

JIm,
A Hack on this Hack
Go get yourself a roll of Insulating bubble Wrap from your Hardware store. it has a metallic coating on it.
I cut it to the size of the windows and trimmed the edges with tape, the metallic coating also works great as a blackout curtain as well.
I have already done and it works great.

It's called Reflectix. It what ETI uses as insulation in the trailer.

Reflectix is one brand, and the best-known brand name. This brand isn't necessary - while Home Depot Canada and Lowes Canada carry Reflectix, Rona carries Ayr-Foil, which is the same thing.
