Got a pair of Milencos last Fall, but haven't found they add much to my stock Expedition mirrors.

The Expedition is a pretty wide vehicle. My Jeep GC is probably still narrower once I have the extended mirrors on.

I did see that that the Milenco mirrors were highly recommended. they seem well built, and I installed on my 2021 Kia Telluride. but the mirror design didn't allow enough of a flat clamping surface, and both fell off during our first trip. (and I haven't found any recommended add on mirrors for this vehicle). (Obviously each vehicle mirrors are differently configured). so I work with the existing side mirrors and the ETI installed Furion backup camera (which works well when parking but not super useful when driving).

While I don't like them as much as I do the Milenco mirrors, you might take a look at the Cipa to see if they fit your stock mirrors.

Another one to look at that I haven't seen before but offers a larger viewing area is the Camco Clamp-On Single Towing Mirror, 25650.

I don't know which mirror you bought but if it was the Milenco mirror and you have European style car mirrors with a groove around the outside of the mirror then you can order the F pads for the Milenco mirrors. The F pads have a ridge that fits in the groove to keep them from sliding off.

I looked at pictures of the Kia mirrors to see if they have the groove. It appeared they may have a groove the the F pad ridge would engage. I am not sure though.

After a Milenco mirror fall off one time I searched for a solution. These pads work for me.

The Milenco extension mirrors stay on our Expedition mirrors. We tie a bit of string to keep them on the car if they did fall off, but they haven't yet.

The Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 would be the perfect backup camera setup if only its wifi were a little stronger. The install would be simple and clean if you had USB by the back window. I could get it to work out the back window to my iPhone at my TV's dash but only when I came in the passenger door. It would lose the signal going in driver's side and have trouble reconnecting without going closer to the camera. I'd be cursing it once too often.
It would probably work consistently with an Escape 17'.

I've had good luck with this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HC1KBT8

The range is ridiculous.. I can pickup the camera signal in my car when I'm still 300-400 feet from the trailer.

Requires pre-wiring for Furrion camera. Our 2019 does not have that. Alternatives?

It doesn't need pre-wiring. My trailer didn't have it. All it needs is a 12v supply, which is easily added.

I'm not aware of any cameras that will run without external power.

We have the Haloview Handy 7 camera system with the 7” monitor. It’s a little pricier than some, but it’s completely wireless and runs on its own battery. The camera has a magnet that attaches to a 3M sticker backed metal plate you can put anywhere (including the rear of your Escape trailer) or to anything metal (i.e., on your tow vehicle if you want to use it as a hitch camera).

I’m not 100% sure, but I believe the battery charge lasts around 7-8 hours before it needs to be recharged. Works great for us.

Looks like you ran a power cable into the fiberglass shell. How did you attach the camera? More holes?

This one came up in another thread.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q7976P7...f_=as_li_ss_tl

Battery and charges via USB, uses phone for screen.

It’s worth looking into for me. Where did you find it?

No, I really wanted to minimize the number of holes I needed to drill. I ended up bolting the camera bracket to a small mounting plate that I made (pic below), and then attached the mounting plate to the trailer with VHB tape.

In hindsight, the mounting plate was probably completely unnecessary. The VHB tape is so strong (and flexible) that I'm almost certain I could have used it to attach the camera bracket directly to the trailer.

Hi, Sandra. I saw the Haloview camera and 7” monitor (which I prefer over using a phone as the “monitor”) on a YouTube video posted by a couple that full-times in a Basecamp 16. Their channel is “Rivet n Roll.”

We bought it on Amazon.

Happy camping!

I clip it over my rear-view mirror, which actually works quite well in that the view is not distracting, but there when i need it.

I'll take a pic and attach shortly.
