Best Sized Awning Rug
I'm trying to get everything on hand now so I can bring it with me when I pick up our new 21 Dec. 19th.
One of the things that I don't have a handle on yet is the best size and type of rug or mat to put under the awning. We've got the Carefree awning being installed, so I'm not really sure of the size that I'll need. Any ideas appreciated!

Escape has some on hand and with the exchange rate, not too bad price wise. That is my plan...

The power awning is advertised as 12' long with 8' extension on a 21. Might want to confirm with ETI about the manual Carefree, but it should be close. I'd make any mat large enough to serve your purposes (but well within the awning footprint), but small enough to not be overly cumbersome to clean and store somewhere for travel.
The polypropylene mats are easy to clean and are a weave type constuction that allows sand and dirt to drop through.
Camping World might be a good place to start looking:

I see that Jim just posted. Escape has 6x9 versions for $50 CAD of what I describe above that can be seen under the "accessories" tab for each respective trailer.

Thanks for the replies.
This gives me a good start on figuring out what I need.
I'm assuming that everyone has one that's smaller than the awning size?

We have the 6 x 9 size and there are times when it is a bit small. If it is just the two of us it is ok but if we have people hanging out for dinner or the grandkids it is a bit small. The nice thing is it is easy to handle and store. I might be tempted to get two small ones instead of one big....more options.

I carry a 9'X12' mat, and a 3'X3' piece of rug. The mat goes down if I'm staying more than a couple of days, otherwise it is the rug to try to keep sand & gravel out of the trailer. I use 4 6" nails with fender washers to hold down the mat, one for the rug.

I normally slip the rug underneath one of the stabilizerers. At least the wind won’t blow it away.

I normally carry 2 rugs, a 9x12 and a 9x6, that way we can have a 9x18 area for the dogs and other uses, if the site allows joining the 2 mats. Also with 18' of length, most of the trailer has coverage and the mats keep dirt to a minimum, both inside and outside.

As a long-term rafter and tent camper, I highly recommend this:
https://www.nrs.com/product/71422.01...imats-closeout
They are on sale right now, and I recently bought one for our new 19. I recommend because sand and dirt particles filter through the mat, so the surface remains clean. They fold up small, don't really get or stay wet, and don't weigh much. They are also quite durable. I bought the 10X10 for our 19 and think it's a bit big, might be perfect for a 21 though!

Those are nice rugs and would be tempted, other than the color choice.....

We also carry a CGear Sand Free Multimatt, in large (10×10) in orange/tan. It's been great.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003NAVLZC..._vW7XBbS0G12WT
One note: one of the photos in the link shows a very bright orange/red on basically both sides. It's not. It's orange on one side, tan on the other.

I bought a 12x7 mat for my 19, which was a perfect size. It now works well for our 5.0TA.

I often use a pair of the costco indoor/outdoor green carpets, which are 6x9' each, I think, I lay them out so they slightly overlap and combined are 9x11.5... I especially do the two carpets when I have both the Escape awning fully deployed and a 10x10 easy-up bumped right up against it, to provide extended morning shade when I'm parked in a wide open area like at my star parties... I usually have a 6x3' mini buffet table setup under these awnings, and bring seating for 4-6 so friends can join us.

Indoor/outdoor carpet weighs a ton after a rain squall.

if you elevate this stuff on a clotheline or whatever, it drains quite quickly. it goes in the back of the truck for transport, on the same side as the ramps I use to load my telescope, plus the ladder, tables, chairs. telescope gear and coolers fill other side of truck.

My buddy bought indoor/outdoor carpet on sale. Got a chunk for himself and one for me. Rain squall hit us and it took three of us to lift his carpet up on to the picnic table to drain. Wasn't quick to drain either.
The stuff I'm talking about had a rubber backing. We both left our carpets in the dumpster. Easier than packing up.
