Yes, I agree, it supplements the stock blue light.

I ordered the fridge fix today also. I might as well do the whole thing when I pull the fridge so I don't have to wish I had done something else.

Fridge-Fix for Dometic 8551
We have a 21 5.0 TA with the large Dometic 8551. We have been on the road with our trailer for approx 6 weeks. As everyone is aware, the performance of this fridge is borderline acceptable. No matter which mode we use, the lowest temp reached is 38F. In addition, when the door is opened, the temp will shoot up to +45F and takes a long time to come back down. I am using a laboratory rated thermometer to monitor the temps.
We received the Fridge-Fix on 7/28 and I installed it late on 7/29 (install was very easy). 24 hours later the temp in the fridge was 27F. I have to now reduce the temp setting on the fridge !!

Hi: All... WHEW!!! Have read all the posts on fridge issues, and some of the tech. data sheets from the links. Our RML8555 6.7 is, while sitting at home on 120V., running on 4 bars maintaining 37-40*. Day time ambient temps 75- 80* and at times 100% humidity. One thing I noticed when the trailer is covered with dew, or rain drops there's always a dry area from the lower fridge vent to the roof vent. We have no fans either Texas or otherwise!!! My biggest fan is my wife...
I tried running it on propane for 24 hrs. on 5 bars and the temp inside dropped to 32*. These are all over night readings with the door staying shut, and the old red liquid thermo mounted on the front of the top wire shelf near the door. The trailer is backed in our driveway so the fridge is on the north/shaded side.
Next I will try 12V. with the solar panels topping up the battery. Never had that option before so I don't know what to expect!!!
My RV.Tech. tells me this is all in the "Food safe zone"!!! I will continue to monitor the performance on our next trip and report my settings and results here.
I have nothing but praise for Reace and his continued efforts to solve the complex issues of a trailer component. Alf

Resurrecting this thread with a news flash FWIW. We've been using the Acurite wireless sensors and display to monitor our 6.7 refrigerator. Heretofore, we have had the sensors placed near the front of the components. Tonight, SWMBO move the sensors to the rear of the refrigerator and freezer and the values are 36 and 0 (and have been as low as 33 and 0). This at 70 ambient at nearly 9:30 MDT. This may suggest significant variance between temps fore and aft in the box.

Just came back from a 1300 mile trip to Algonac, Michigan for a fiberglass rally, nice seeing Alf's new 5.0 TA again. Still undecided. Anyway, my refer ran fine on setting #3 on propane on trip out/back and once there on 120v and setting for #4 when it hit 90's on thursday and friday before the big storms hit. I left the fan fix fans on during the day but off at night. Even with several "showings" on saturday when the interior went up to 42 it recovered back to 38 that night. I'm okay with that performance.

Hi: cpaharley2008... Nice seeing you again too. Our fridge performed well on Sat. with everyone wanting to see in it!!! On Fri. in the mid 90's not so well. Your supply of well chilled Yeungling Light was sure refreshing. Thanks Alf

Just curious - picked up my 21 last week - has anyone moved the "Texas fan" switch to the inside of the rig? Seems pretty noisy at night and I thought that would be a lot simpler to shut Texas off than futzing with removing/replacing the outside vent cover each time I want to flip the switch...........

Not the "Texas Fan", but I added one to my 5 cu ft (both one inside & another in the back) and have inside switches for both. Much easier to reach up & filp a switch than go outside...
