Jim, yes I have extendable towing mirrors on the truck. Granted, I may not necessarily extend them for towing the trailer home in city traffic but they are wider than usual anyway.



And, seeing as I took a defensive driving course before I even learned to drive, I too keep a close eye on all the vehicles around me. Still, some small cars slip in and become invisible behind the trailer, mostly in city traffic when there are lots of demands on my attention. It's unbelievable how close some drivers get around here.

Tailgating here in Calgary has gotten really bad too. Not everyone by far, but enough I notice it regularly. I always keep a minimum of 3 seconds regularly and 6 when towing. Nothing you can do anyway, other than slow more and force them to go around you if they are that busy. Any accident involving a collision from the rear makes them responsible, but still better not to have this happen.
