How many folks are having fridge issues

Pretty good layman's description of how the absorbtion process works. Think I'll still install a solar powered vent cover fan on my 21 just out of curiosity. As long as there is airflow over the top coils it still might help somewhat. Have to do some detailed studies......

We have the 21 with the big frig and have not had a problem. We try and pack the main frig lightly and pack the freezer fairly full. If it's super hot, in the 90's and the temp is creeping up I put of bag of ice from the freezer into the frig, cools right down. We leave it on propane while traveling. The other day I forgot to put the door on lock and something fell over and popped it open. When we stopped the temp was up to 45! Put some ice in and it cooled down to 40 within an hour. We have a battery operated fan inside.

Our 16' Scamp has a Dometic mid sized unit that is about 11 years old. It works well in any condition we have camped in. It is bone stock with no fans or baffles. The temp dial is typically set on 3 or 3 1/4 depending on whether it is running on propane or 120vac. If turned up too high it literally turns the whole box into a freezer! We ruined a lot of produce while learning. I hope this one lasts us for a while longer, as it sounds like the newer units have some issues.
We travel with the propane lit which helps with the constant temperature, but I do feel it would be safer to use dry ice instead while under way. Availability for dry ice may be an issue though.

There are actually 3 positions on the door lock, one for storage, one for non travel and one for travel. All are discussed in the manual.

Actually, I posted entry #102 giving you a link to techfan's original post of the awnings months ago. The picture was of my awning made based on techfan's original post. We were just cross posting I guess!!

Just got back from a 3 day lake trip. We have a 21ft. we picked up in March. Had no problems on way home from Canada, but it was a cool time of year. This was our first hot Texas weather test. We do have the texas fan, but have never "heard it", we assume it is working. Plugged in at storage overnight and had 3 in freezer and 36 in fridge. Used a remote wireless to gauge. Temps going on battery to destination went up to 9 freezer, 48 fridge! It was actually a cloudy week , but temps in the 90's. average was 3 freezer,36 fridge. We have ordered the big fan thing Jim installed. Everything I put in fridge was cold to begin with. If the sun had been blazing I think we would have had a problem. I am more worried about contents in refrigerator than freezer.

You do realize you can remove the freezer compartment and that cold air will help with the refrigerator temperature. where did you keep your sensors, on door or on which shelf, front or rear?

Yeah, but we really don't want to take the door off. We put the one sensor in the middle of freezer. The other I saw was in the door, which is the warmest place. We moved it to the top shelf closer to back and left it there. Of course temp was higher with it in door. The freezer did not flux as much as fridge, but of course we opened it more often.

Just a thought - since the door is the warmest location, perhaps adding a layer of cork (like a corkboard for posting notes) or other insulating material to the door?
