Money well spent.
I just looked at your photos in detail on my PC. That's a good idea putting the Soft Start on the other side and running the wires across. It looks like that saves some effort in preparing the existing junction box.

I installed the MicroAir EasyStart in my AC at Pineknot last year. Since then we have run the AC on the Honda 2000i numerous times. Every start has been nice and smooth with no loading down of the generator.

I installed the Easy Start a couple of days ago and it works great. I did not order the install kit due to comments on other reviews that it was not worth it. I thought I had it covered and I did complete the install with my parts. I do recommend buying the install kit, then you have everything you need in hand and you don't have to run out for parts you cannot find. My main issue was not having the larger bushing for the electrical box. I modified the existing bushing to make the wires fit.

Regarding the Soft Start, when working on our build sheet with Linda at ETI she told me that the air conditioners have the "Soft Start" come with the "Soft Start", but I see here that folks are still adding them. Maybe she didn't understand my question, is the information she gave me wrong?

Perhaps Linda at ETI meant current models, 2018 vs the older models? I'd verify the answer.

I think Dometic is installing an enhanced starting capacitor which you can buy as an option for hard starting units. I removed the starting capacitor and another device when I installed the Easy Start. With the Easy Start I can operate the A/C with the Honda 2K in Eco mode and no more noticeable clunk. FYI - Easy Start and Soft Start are two different things also known as Hard Start. Easy Start is what will allow the AC to start with 2000 watt generator.

Yes, I see that I looking at the date the response was written vs looking at the date (age) of the trailer. Thanks Jim.

A friend of mine installed a Microair Easy Start on our air conditioner for me. Works like a champ. Our experience with our Honda EU 2000i was the same as yours. After the easy start installation, no problems.

For those that have installed the Microair Easy Start, any precautions about being on the roof to install the kit? I have purchased the Microair Easy start and look forward to no more loud thud on start up.

I did it all from a ladder, mostly on the curb side.

If you're going to get on the roof, lay a a piece of plywood on the roof to spread your weight out.

When we picked up our 5.0 T.A. the man who hooked us up at orientation said when you go on the roof use " a piece of 2" rigid foam insulation " to spread your weight. You can get a sheet at a building supply for about $20.00

Is the easy start needed only if using a generator or does it help when plugged in?

It's not really "needed" when using a generator, except that if you're borderline on the startup power, it could help make the difference. But, it doesn't matter what the source of the electricity is. It'll benefit the AC by making the compressor start easier, and theoretically last longer.

Now, if I could find something that prevented the refrigerant from leaking, that'd be a real improvement.....

When I picked my 21 up in Aug. I was told the new AC's are somewhat easier then older models. Not the 'Easystart' but the design is different to allow for easier starts.
