RM 2510 freezer door issue

A couple years ago, one of the pins that hold the freezer door broke off ( right side ).
Now, for now apparent reason, the freezer door opens by itself. It appears there is a spring somewhere that unwinds and opens the door. We have to partially close the freezer door before closing the fridge door so it will close without breaking something.
Any experience with similar, or ideas?

Yup, you are correct about the springs:

Looks like you need a couple parts but here is a video showing how the springs are loaded. I just had my freezer door off. I didn’t pry the door off or on like shown. I removed the two screws from one of the plastic hinge pieces (on bottom) and then reinstalled with it in place. A little tricky but the prying felt like it would have broke something.

Great, one more thing to worry about.

I haven't had this spring break, yet. However, the spring in the outside handle, #4 on the above breakdown, has broken twice. It broke about a year ago and I replaced it. It was quite expensive.

It very recently broke again. This time I put two rubber bands around the handle (small ones like to pony tails). These pull the handle closed. Works well now, and a nearly free fix. Won't work on the freezer door though.

I found the spring housing, left and right, here. Haven't ordered from them before but they say they have them.

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks.

It's there now. I think sometimes video links are slow coming with the post. Thanks.

That is just the spring casing (#61 in Laurelhurst parts breakdown). Depending on what you still have lying around you also may need the RH spring (#63), carrier hinge (#64) and the hinge (#58).

With our Freezer door, the springs are okay. But the "tabs" that hold the spring are broken and rotate. By simply holding the freezer door shut and rotating the tab with thumb or finger it puts tension on the spring again and the freezer door stays shut until we open the freezer door again. It is a pain in the a@@ but works for now.

What ever you do with the 2510, protect the main door gasket. The only way to replace it is to replace the entire door @ $400.00 installed...
