Sumas WA storage?

Is there a place to temporarily store our supplies so we don't have to take them through border crossing when we pick up our Escape 17B?

I can't help you with that, but I bet someone can. I do wonder though why you just don't keep it with you? Not much difference than crossing with it all in the trailer.

Don't know anything about it, but there's a mini storage place in Sumas: Storage | Sumas Shipping and Storage

When I went over the border at Sumas, I had four totes full of camping stuff, from socks to a frying pan. The only food I had was coffee... picky! The totes were in the bed of the truck.

When I was asked... vacation or pleasure? I said, picking up my new travel trailer from Escape trailer in Chilliwack. I was waved through. I think they're hearing this a lot

Same way coming back the other direction. I could see Ten Forward in the commercial lane and pointed it out to the border guard.. that's MINE

My experience doesn't guarantee others won't have issues. But I think the hassle of renting and moving stuff in and out of storage is not worth it. YMMV

IF you're carrying a prohibited weapon, the IGA in Sumas has a secure area where you can "check it in."

IF you're carrying medicinal marijuana or for recreational use... I can't help you, sorry.

Just read an article that showed that the surveyors of yesteryear, without modern surveying instruments, boo-booed with the border at Sumas. The 49th parallel is actually South of the present marked border. So, technically, if we count the 49th parallel as the border, Sumas is actually in Canada.

No worries, evidently there are several other areas that are wrong and when you add it all up Canada still comes out ahead.

I wouldn't bother with storing goods meant for the trailer. The only interest the border folks have in them is if they're illegal stuff or they're commercial goods.

Yes, buy your pot on the way back out through Washington. I heard someone trying to explain why it was "okay" that they were bringing it in from Canada because they actually bought it in Washington on the way to Canada in the first place.

Just to point out for anyone who does not know, you cannot put any items in the trailer when you see it in Chilliwack. You will have to wait until it is brought across the border into the U.S. If you are American. So you are taking your items over the border both directions! We had the car as full as it could be. Nothing was asked that did not allow any of it.

You can store smaller items, such as firearms, that you can not legally carry into Canada at IGA Brumleys in Sumas. The cost is absurdly cheap. If I remember right, it was $10 a year for one locked case.

Yes! Those become part of the trailer. Assume you mean installed by Escape. Installed by you is another matter. We sent all of our additions to the trailer build up earlier. Our car was full of items to use camping. None of that can be put in the trailer in Chilliwack.

Good Idea! When you return to Sumas, there are some good grocery stores. I can't help you with pot either.

No worries and no need to store your stuff on the U. S. side. We just drove up on Jan 15th to pick up our 21' and our Ford F-150 Supercrew was filled to the max, including the rear cab. We did not have a problem crossing over and back. We worried for nothing.

Enjoy your new rig!

We crossed with our F-150 which had a camper shell on the bed, PACKED with stuff. The crossing took less than 5 minutes. They asked the basic questions about firearms, food, and why we were crossing and it was done. Oh yea, we also had two dogs and they did not even ask to see the papers on them.
