I assume that you bought a hose with a 3/8" female flare fitting on the end of it, so it screwed on in place of the original hose and regulator. That's certainly a valid option and good if you want...

This certainly seems to vary by location. Around here, I've never seen high-pressure quick-connect fittings in an RV store. I guess the key is to read the package, but that might not always be clear....
