I should have stated that I only touch the door...

I should have stated that I only touch the door frame, not the latch. Aligning my hand at the latch height keeps the screen door square with the stationary latch. No mods necessary!

You might try aligning your hand with the latch when closing. My wife always has trouble with the latch but she places her hand below the latch. I never have issues, but my hand is at the latch...
