The ferry fare is the scary part.
Last time I took the ferry to Nanaimo it cost me $170 each way. That's vehicle and trailer ( 34 feet total ) and driver and passenger....

Not on the same scale, but I was directed by BC Ferry crew to the top vehicle deck. That was discovered to be a bad idea when the canoe atop my vehicle ground to a halt on the deck above the car...

GPS is just a tool.
And, when it comes to backing up in that situation, I'd not count on a backup camera. A second set of eyes is much more valuable.
