bed rail heights

I think I read max height was 56" and my RAM measured 55 !/2, maybe ok. After installing the hitch and two boxes for stuff the measurement changed to less than 55, I put 250# in the back to partially simulate the trailer and the rails dropped to 53". I'm now confident that I will be ok.

Do keep in mind that as your truck rails go down so will the attached trailer.
Under normal conditions it will likely be fine. It’s the humps coming out of some gas stations and twists backing into camp sites, for example where clearance can get tight.
