Re: Cost of hitch,,whats reasonable?
You might want to check out U-Haul, or some local truck places. That's what I did. My Sienna had the tow package with a Class II hitch that I had to change because they don't (yet) make a wdh that fits an 1 1/4" receiver.

Re: Cost of hitch,,whats reasonable?
When I got my 2008 RAV 4 the factory hitch was $1,000 ( including wiring ) and was only a class 2. You need a class three for the equalizer.
The dealer has a fellow that comes in and installs other hitches requested by customers. He did a very nice install of a class three Hidden Hitch, installed the wiring ( I paid $25 extra for a heavier ground wire that he had to purchace ) and he installed the Prodigy brake controller for under $650, and he did it at the dealership before I got my new vehicle.
My buddy had his class three hitch installed on his Hyundi Santa Fe by U-Haul for about $500, including wiring, ( not sure if it was extra for the brake controller ). However, they screwed something up in the wiring so he went out to get his new 19' and had to return without it and get something in the wiring fixed. The U-Haul manager admitted that they should not have made the mistake they made.
So, you don't want Toyota's factory hitch because it is overpriced and won't do the job, but you might want to check with your dealer and with U-Haul and anybody installing hitches in your area. In B.C. you're looking at $500 to $700 for the hitch receiver, hitch, wiring and brake controller install.
You still have to buy the equalizer. I got mine from Escape and Reace set it up for the trailer and tow.
