For those with a loose or noisy hitch set up

Appears to be a new product that eliminates noisy, loose, rattling hitches.

Interesting.

At first I wondered if all the tension was on the wedging bolt but then I saw that because of the double diagonal cut that the pin went through both pieces. I'm not sure how you can have the pin in both pieces and still have locking movement. Maybe the hole is oversize.

Pretty clever but the old fashioned "U" clamp still does the job for me.

Interesting wedging system. The Boss WedgeLock is somewhat similar.

There's not much on the Quietite website, but I assume that the hole is simply large enough to accommodate the wedging motion - pin holes are always sloppy anyway.

I solved a rattling hitch by switching from a Reese to a Curt tow bar. the Reese tow bar (aka ball mount) was very loose in my 2" receiver, and the Curt fits just about spot on.

This is what I use on my existing hitch. All you have to do is tighten it up.

It also deters theft (a little) because you will not get the bolt out with this tightened up. It works great. I only pull a 12' trailer but it does keep things quiet. This one is unavailable but there are others at the bottom of the page.

That's the type I use and it works for me also. I've found though that it's not install and forget about it. After some distance on rough roads etc. it some times needs to be tightened up a bit.
